The Prince of Egypt
I really like the music of Dreamworks SKG's The Prince
of Egypt. I can often be found in my apartment singing along or whistling
to the melodies. It's wonderful music, even by my standards.
The soundtrack can be purchase at Amazon.com
- to satisfy those copyright junkies in the audience.

Mud…Sand...Water... Straw... Faster!
Mud... And lift... Sand... And pull...
Water... And raise up... Straw... Faster!
Slaves
With the sting of the whip on my shoulder
With the salt of my sweat on my brow
Elohim, God on high
Can you hear your people cry:
Help us now This dark hour...
Deliver us Hear our call
Deliver us Lord of all
Remember us, here in this burning sand
Deliver us
There's a land you promised us
Deliver us to the promised land...
Yocheved
Yal-di ha-tov veh ha-rach
(My good and tender son)
Al ti-ra veh al tif-chad
(Don't be frightened and don't be scared)
My son, I have nothing I can give
But this chance that you may live
I pray we'll meet again
If He will deliver us
Slaves
Deliver us
Hear our prayer
Deliver us
From despair
These years of slavery grow too cruel to stand
Deliver us
There's a land you promised us
Deliver us
Out of bondage and
Deliver us to the promised land...
Yocheved
Hush now, my baby
Be still, love, don't cry
Sleep as you're rocked by the stream
Sleep and remember
My last lullaby
So I'll be with you when you dream
River, o river
Flow gently for me
Such precious cargo you bear
Do you know somewhere he can live free?
River, deliver him there...
Young Miriam
Brother, you're safe now
And safe may you stay
For I have a prayer just for you:
Grow, baby brother
Come back someday
Come and deliver us too...
Slaves
Deliver us
Send a shepherd to shepherd us
And deliver us to the promised land
Deliver us to the promised land
Yocheved
Deliver us!
All I Ever Wanted (With Queen's
Reprise) - performed by Amick Byram and Linda Dee Shayne, produced by Hans Zimmer
and Harry Gregson-Williams
Moses
Gleaming in the moonlight
Cool and clean and all I've ever known
All I ever wanted
Sweet perfumes of incense
Graceful rooms of alabaster stone
All I ever wanted
This is my home
With my father, mother, brother
Oh so noble, oh so strong
Now I am home
Here among my trappings and belongings
I belong
And if anybody doubts it
They couldn't be more wrong
I am a sovereign prince of Egypt
A son of the proud history that's shown
Etched on ev'ry wall
Surely this is all I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
Queen
This is your home, my son
Here the river brought you
And it's here the river meant
To be your home
Now you know the truth, love
Now forget and be content
When the gods send you a blessing
You don't ask why it was sent…
Through Heaven's Eyes -
produced by Gavin Greenaway, performed by Brian Stokes Mitchell
Jethro
A single thread in a tapestry
Though its color brightly shine
Can never see its purpose
In the pattern of the grand design
And the stone that sits on the very top
Of the mountain's mighty face
Does it think its more important
Than the stones that form the base?
So how can you see what your life is worth
Or where your value lies?
You can never see through the eyes of man
You must look at your life
Look at your life through heaven's eyes
Lai-la-lai.........
A lake of gold in the desert sand
Is less than a cool fresh spring
and to one lost sheep, a shepherd boy
Is greater than the richest king
If a man loses everything he owns
Has he truly lost his worth?
Or is it the beginning
Of a new and brighter birth?
So how do you measure the worth of a man
In wealth, or strength or size?
In how much he gained our how much he gave?
The answer will come
The answer will come to him who tries
To look at his life through heaven's eyes
And that's why we share all we have with you
Though there's little to be found
When all you've got is nothing
There's a lot to go around
No life can escape being blown apart
By the winds of change and chance
And though you never know all the steps
You must learn to join the dance
You must learn to join the dance
Lai-la-lai......
So how do you judge what a man is worth
By what he builds or buys?
You can never see with your eyes on earth
Look through heaven's eyes
Look at your life Look at your life
Look at your life through heaven's eyes.

The Plagues - performed by Ralph
Fiennes and Amick Byram, produced by Gavin Greenaway
Chorus
Thus saith the Lord:
Since you refuse to free my people
All through the land of Egypt…
I send a pestilence and plague
Into your house, into your bed
Into your streams, into your streets
Into your drink, into your bread
Upon your cattle, on your sheep
Upon your oxen in your field
Into your dreams, into your sleep
Until you break, until you yield
I send the swarm,
I send the horde
Thus saith the Lord
Moses
Once I called you brother
Once I thought the chance to make you laugh
Was all I ever wanted…
Chorus
I send the thunder from the sky
I send the fire raining down
Moses
And even now I wish that God had chose another
Serving as your foe on his behalf
Is the last thing that I wanted…
Chorus
I send a hail of burning ice
On ev'ry field, on ev'ry town
Moses
This was my home
All this pain and devastation
How it tortures me inside
All the innocent who suffer
From your stubborness and pride…
Chorus
I send the locusts on a wind
Such as the world has never seen
On ev'ry leaf, on ev'ry stalk
Until there's nothing left of green
I send my scourge, I send my sword
Thus saith the Lord!
Moses
You who I called brother
Why must you call down another blow?
Chorus
I send my scourge, I send my sword
Moses
Let my people go
Moses and Chorus
Thus saith the Lord
Rameses
You who I called brother
How could you have come to hate me so?
Is this what you wanted?
Chorus
I send the swarm, I send the horde…
Rameses
Then let my heart be hardened
And never mind how high the cost may grow
This will still be so:
I will never let your people go…
Chorus
Thus saith the lord:
Moses
Thus saith the lord:
Rameses
I will not…
Moses, Rameses and Chorus
Let your (my) people go!
When You Believe
Miriam
Many night's we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood,
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could
Miriam (chorus)
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe
Tzipporah
In this time of fear
When prayer so often proved in vain
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I'm standing here
With heart so full I can't explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I'd say
Miriam and Tzipporah (chorus)
There can be miracles
When you believe
All hope is frail
Its hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
Somehow you will
You will when you believe
Hebrew Children

A-shir-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-oh

Mi-cha-mo-cha ba-elim adonai
(Who is like You, oh Lord, among the celestial)
Mi-ka-mo-cha ne-dar-ba-ko-desh
(Who is like You, majestic in holiness)

When you believe

Its hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve

Somehow you will
Now you will
You will when you believe......
Miriam and Tzipporah
You will when you believe.
